Here we have it. the reason why I've been sort of half dead most of the summer.
WARNING LONG ARTIST'S COMMENT
Funny story behind this piece, I didn't really intend to color it at first, but I have a common artists' problem: I get really good ideas, only I'm supposed to be working on something else at the moment. So I'd make Illustrations and comics every day, when I was supposed to be studying, and this became a problem when it was time for finals (which was back in may). I decided that what I needed was a HUGE project that I knew I couldn't possibly finish in a day, so I'd work on it and still study in the bits I left it alone.
So on a fatefully boring spanish class the first page of what eventually became this monster of an artwork was born, it was just the kids, trolls and ancestors, done in ballpoint pen on printer paper, and in my mind sprung "How many characters can I fit on here?" 3 more pages and two more classes and I had the sketch. I started coloring it when I heard one of my friends was going to comic-con, I thought that if she met Andrew she could give this to him, as a sort of "thanks for making the coolest webcomic ever" thing. Then she wasn't able to go, but I kept on coloring, because I finally had the project that would challenge me and allow me to pass my exams.
On to the actual piece. I had more than a few setbacks along the way, I didn't want to use so many layers so I sort of winged it and did one layer for up to ten or twelve characters, on top of that I had to add characters as I worked, because I kept forgetting people (im sure there are still more than one missing character but I tried to get as many as I could on there) and, Calliope was finally revealed. The composition was tricky, I built the background as I went along, not even starting it properly until about 75% of the characters were finished, luckily it all fell into place (I even used a panel from the comic for the lulz, see if you can find it)
All in all, I'm pretty proud of how this came out in general, obviously you cant be happy with everything when it comes to something this big *cough*Lord english*cough*, but in the end I'm glad I finished it. So yeah,
let me tell you about Homestuck
Which all belongs to the orange guy holding a broom.
